From Risk to Resilience: Utilizing Transportation Safety Resources
Join SCAG for a Toolbox Tuesday session showcasing SCAG’s latest transportation safety resources. Participants will explore SCAG’s new SoCal Community Transportation Safety Modeling Tool, an interactive visualization tool that supports collision risk assessment, crash modeling, and safety planning at the Tier II Traffic Analysis Zone level. The tool enables planners and decision-makers to proactively evaluate the safety impacts of potential land use changes, and adjust designs to potentially reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries before finalizing major decisions.
We will also present SCAG’s new 2025 Transportation Safety Regional Existing Conditions Report, which analyzes recent collision data, patterns, and contributing factors. The report can help to address the region’s persistent transportation safety challenges by providing insights to guide planners and decision-makers on future improvements anticipate safety impacts of land use changes and pursue data-driven strategies to reduce traffic-related deaths and serious injuries.
